AIT 104-H - Basic Hydraulics

(Up to 2 CEU's) Hands on, lecture/lab.

Hydraulics has been defined as "the muscle of industry". Today, this "workhorse" is as indispensible to Manufacturing as electrical technology. Basic Hydraulics is a course that explains the fundamentals of this interesting type of technology. This course begins by defining the concepts - fluid power, Pascal's law, pressure, flow, and force. Then the components of a hydraulic system are examined - pumps, actuators, reservoirs, fluid conductors, and valves. The students are then able to fully understand these concepts as they build the hydraulic circuits in class. This is an intensive lab/lecture course that both the "seasoned" Mechanic with no formal training, as well as the inexperienced Mechanic just starting his carreer in technology.

Covering:

Physics of hydraulic mechanics.

Function of hydraulic components - including pumps, valves, cylinders, reservoirs, and accumulators.

Hydraulic symbols and diagrams.

Hydraulic plumbing and fittings.

Building hydraulic circuits.

Troubleshooting and maintenance of hydraulic circuits.

Safety procedures and practices related to hydraulic equipment.
